Chiropractic Adjustments Can Help

Neck pain

Whose job it is to support a much heavier head, must be finely tuned and shaped correctly.  Many necks do not have the correct shape to support the head.  Common causes of neck pain include poor sleeping posture, sudden movements such as shampooing the hair and motor vehicle accidents.  The chiropractic approach to neck pain is to thoroughly examine the neck and use gentle adjustments to restore joint and nerve function and shape.  Chiropractic is highly successful in helping neck pain sufferers.

Back pain

Is a very common ailment affecting millions of people worldwide and causing a huge amount of suffering and loss of productive work times.  It is the most common complaint which causes someone to visit a chiropractor.  Back pain can be caused by the discs in the spine.  A protruding disc is a serious condition and the pain can be severe.  Jammed or displaced spinal joints are another common cause of back pain.  Whatever the cause, chiropractic adjustments can help improve spinal function and bring tremendous relief to back pain sufferers.

Headaches

There are many different kinds of headaches.  A very common cause of headaches is a problem with the spinal joints in the neck. These pain sensitive joints can lock together, pinching nerves in the neck and causing headaches.  Stress, a jolt to the head, some foods & drinks can trigger headaches.  Chiropractic care seeks to correct any joints in the spine which aren’t working correctly.  Our office has a high success rate with headache sufferers.

Sciatica / leg pain

Sciatica is characterised by pain, numbness, tingling or burning in the buttocks, legs or feet.  It may present as any combination of the above symptoms.  Sciatica often but not always accompanies low back pain.  The cause is usually a pinched nerve in the low back region.  Chiropractic care attempts to fix sciatica by removing the cause of the problem.  It responds well to chiropractic care in the great majority of cases.

Scoliosis

Is a sideways curvature of the spine.  It affects girls more than boys and often develops during the formative years from 8 to 18.  It may show as a postural problem and you will often hear the words “straighten up” be said to someone with scoliosis.  Pain can be present and it may only show up after an incident at sport or work.  Sometimes, scoliosis can be corrected.  Early detection is essential.  Chiropractic care has helped many young people with scoliosis enjoy a healthier posture and lifestyle.

Sports injuries

Are often accompanied by joint dysfunction and nerve irritation which may have contributed to the injury in the first place eg a pelvic misalignment could be the cause of recurring hamstring tears.  Or, the injury could have caused the joint dysfunction and nerve irritation.  Either way, chiropractic care is essential for recovery from sporting injuries and many professional and amateur sporting bodies use chiropractors care for their athletes.

Shoulder/arm pain

Pain in the arm is often causes by nerve problems in the neck. It can be accompanied with pins and needles down to the hand and fingers and sometimes a burning feeling in the arm. These are symptoms of a neck problem. Shoulder pain can come from the neck or it may be a problem with the shoulder joint. After a thorough examination the cause of the problem can usually be located and treated.

Knee and foot pain

Pain in the knee of foot regions can be debilitating as your mobility is affected. The problem is often a joint problem which can be successfully treated with chiropractic care. After an examination and diagnoses is made appropriate treatment can begin or referred to another practitioner.

Poor posture

Postural problems among young people are reaching epidemic proportions with the increased usage of mobile phones and screens. Middle age postural issues may develop due to lack of exercise and prolonged sitting at work. And the elderly have their own postural problems caused by chronic pain or declining muscle bulk. Chiropractic can identify the cause of the postural problem and provide appropriate care.

FAQs

Is chiropractic safe?

Chiropractic care has a very safe track record. Australian chiropractors are registered health care practitioners, who have a 5 or 6 year university degree with extensive training in providing safe treatments. As with all health care procedures there are risks and we will inform you of the safety and any risks associated with your treatment.

How long will it take to get better?

Every problem is different depending on the cause and severity of the problem, the length of time it has been there and any pre-existing conditions. Therefore the recovery time varies from person to person.

We will discuss the treatment plan for your best recovery after a thorough examination.

Do you treat other joints like knees and shoulders?

Absolutely. The most common complaints people come with are back and neck aches and pains. However chiropractors are trained to assess and treat joint, muscle, ligament and nerve conditions associated with shoulders, knees etc.

Hear from the Experts

Patients receiving an initial course of spinal manipulation thrice a week for the first month had statistically significant and clinically important reductions in pain and disability.  Furthermore, those who received maintenance spinal manipulations every 2 weeks for 9 months maintained and increased their benefits, whereas those who did not receive this continuing course of care in the 2 phase of the trial lost their earlier improvement.

Senna MachalySpine 2011

Chiropractic care, including spinal manipulation, is recommended for the management of migraine and cervicogenic headaches. The type, frequency, dosage, and duration of treatment should be based on guideline recommendations, clinical experience, and knowledge of the patient.

Bryans, Descarreaux, DuranleuaxJMPT 2011

A combination of Chiropractic Manipulative Therapy and Low-Level Laser Therapy was more effective than either of the 2 on their own. Both therapies are indicated as potentially beneficial treatments for cervical facet dysfunction.
